First prize at Lappeenranta voice competition!

Iida won first prize in the women’s category at Lappeenranta national voice competition in Finland with soprano Iris Candelaria.

Soprano Sonja Herranen was awarded second prize. Sopranos Elisaveta Rimkevitch and Heta Sammalisto shared third prize.

Baritone Veikko Vallinoja was awarded second prize in the men’s category. Third prize was awarded to tenors Jasper Leppänen and Joonas Vatjus.

The Lappeenranta voice competition is regarded as one of the most important national competitions in Finland. The competition has three rounds, repertoire ranging from oratorio to lied and opera. Previous winners include internationally recognised singers such as Karita Mattila, Soile Isokoski and Camilla Nylund.
